Characterization of Thermally Stable AB-type Poly(ether-amide)s Derived from AB-type Monomers by Fluoro Displacement Reaction

Abstract: Two AB-type monomers 4-fluoro -N-(4-(2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) propan-2-yl) phenyl) benzamide and 4-fluoro -N-(5-hydroxy naphthyl) benzamide were synthesized. The AB-type poly(etheramide)s (PEAs) were derived by self-polymerization via the nucleophilic aromatic displacement reaction of AB-type monomers. The structure of AB-type monomers and PEAs were confirmed by FT-IR and H 1 -NMR spectroscopy. The PEAs were characterized by TGA, DSC, XRD, solution viscosity and solubility. X-ray diffraction studies indicated that … Show more

“…FPIs (FPI-1 to FPI-8) were synthesized by nucleophilic substitution reaction. 19 25 The typical procedure adopted for the synthesis of FPI-1 was as follows. Into a 100-mL round-bottomed flask fitted with a Dean–Stark trap, diol monomer IVa (0.01 mol), 30 mL of dry NMP, 20 mL of toluene and anhydrous potassium carbonate (0.022 mol) were added.…”

“…All the PEIs were synthesized by the nucleophilic displacement reaction of diol (IIIa-d) and DFBP in the presence of weak base anhydrous K 2 CO 3 in NMP as shown in Figure 2. [19][20][21][22] The typical procedure adopted for the polymerization was as follows. To a round-botteomed flask, diol monomer IIIa (6.06 g, 0.01 mol), DFBP (2.18 g, 0.01 mol), 50 mL of dry NMP, and anhydrous K 2 CO 3 (3.04 g, 0.022 mol) were added.…”
