“…Sterilization of skin grafts with irradiation worsened the structure of the skin matrix since it can cause collagen matrix cross-linking or breakage of the peptide bonds within the collagen molecules (22). Unlike mammalian skin grafts, which require harsh chemical sterilization, Tilapia skin grafts require a gentle processing method because the colony forming units found in the tilapia skin samples suggested the existence of a normal, non-infectious microbiota (23).
