“…The EDS spectra showed that peak intensities corresponding to Ca and P of the HAP particles dramatically decreased after nano‐milling, indicating the exchange of components between the HAP particles and the suspension during the milling process (Supova, ; Yin et al, ). Furthermore, Ca/P atomic ratios values of the nanosized HAP samples (0.33–0.62) were significantly lower than the microsized HAP sample (1.63), which was related to the release of calcium to the suspension during the milling process (Shi et al, ; Yin et al, ).…”

“…The patterns shown in Figure b–f corresponding to the HAP, collagen/HAP and amino acids/HAP samples with 240 min of nano‐milling, respectively, predominately exhibited one sharp diffraction peak at 25.8° and one broad peak ranging from 30 to 35°. With respect to the HAP sample without nano‐milling, peak numbers of the five HAP samples with nano‐milling were much less and their diffraction intensities obviously lower, suggesting the reduction of the crystallinity of HAP by nano‐milling (Shi et al, ).…”

“…FTIR peak at 3637.88 cm -1 indicated the free O-H stretching vibration [7]. The 961.65 cm -1 peak indicated stretched modes of phosphate [17] while the 656.01 cm -1 peak indicated metal oxide stretching vibration [18]. Furthermore, it could be observed that the peak at 715.65 cm -1 was totally removed which indicate a complete elimination of C-H organic substances at the temperature of 800°C.…”

“…Attempts have been made to isolate fish bone derived hydroxyapatite and use it as an alternate for synthetic hydroxyapatite (Kim et al, 1997;Ozawa and Suguru, 2002). For example, Shi et al (2018) reported that among natural hydroxyapatite derived from rainbow trout, cod, and salmon bones, the ones from rainbow trout and salmon bones led to a faster growth, adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation of osteoblast and formation of mineralized tissue which is most likely attributed to the presence of CO 3 2− and Mg 2+ . Generally, heat treatment (800∼1,300 °C) is used for the isolation of hydroxyapatite from fish bone and high temperature gives high strength and higher degree of crystallinity and larger crystallite size to hydroxyapatite structure Pal et al, 2017;Sunil and Jagannatham, 2016) and provides an excellent biocompatible inorganic substance Venkatesan et al, 2015).…”
