Characterization of lipopeptides from Paenibacillus sp. (IIRAC30) suppressing Rhizoctonia solani

Abstract: The main aim was to identify the active compound against Rhizoctonia solani produced by the cassava endophyte Paenibacillus sp. IIRAC-30. The compounds produced were extracted with ethyl acetate and purified by Sephadex column prior to analysis by Q-TOF mass spectrometry. A C 15 -lipopeptide with an estimated molecular weight of 1036 Da and homologues were identified. The lipopeptide had a cyclic structure, which was deduced by interpreting the ESI-MS/MS spectra of main protonated homologues containing 15:0 FA… Show more

“…The extractions of secondary metabolites were performed according to Canova et al (2010) using ethyl acetate as solvent. The extracts were diluted to a final concentration of 20 µg.µL -1 and they were stored at 4 o C. An antibiosis assay was performed similarly as the antagonism assay.…”

“…Many cassava cultivars were found to have a strong association with bacterial endophyte Hyphomicrobium. The bacteria appeared on culture media when explants carrying an axillary bud of cassava cultivar TME204 from the greenhouse and field, was introduced for ebryogenesis (Chauhan et al, 2013 (Canova et al, 2010;Menpara and Chanda, 2013). Endophytes of sweet potato: Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam) is the second most important root tuber and the seventh most important food crop of the world, an important root crop grown for its sweet testing starchy, tuberous roots (Mitra, 2012).…”
