Characterization of a Cell Culture Adapted Goat Pox Virus1

Abstract: Summary An attenuated goat pox virus (GPV) in sheep testicle cell (STC) culture was further adapted to sheep embryo dermis cell (SEDC) culture and was characterized in terms of its growth pattern and its resistance to physical and chemical treatments. A single growth curve in SEDC showed an eclipse period of less than 18 hrs, followed by exponential growth with its maximum at 4 days post‐infection.
