“…The species that exhibited the best antioxidant activity in the three tests and anticholinesterase activity was H. speciosa. This plant is currently used in the treatment of several conditions, including fractures, inflammation, ulcers, pain, hypertension, and diabetes, and its effects are probably attributable to the antioxidant capacity of compounds present, such as phenols, tannins, flavones, flavonoids, leucoanthocyanidins, and alkaloids [ 44 ]. H. speciosa also exhibited the best results among all the species tested in terms of anticholinesterase activity.…”

“…A mangabeira, planta frutífera com porte variando entre 4 e 10 m de altura, podendo raramente chegar até 15 m, pertencente à classe Dicotyledoneae, ordem Gentianales, família Apocynaceae, gênero Harcornia e à espécie Hancornia speciosa, é uma planta nativa do Brasil. De acordo com relatos de estudiosos, o nome "mangaba" é originário da língua tupi guarani e significa "coisa boa de comer" (FERREIRA, 2007;ASSUMPÇÃO et al, 2014). A mangabeira pode ser encontrada em toda a região brasileira, desde os tabuleiros costeiros e baixadas litorâneas do Nordeste, onde é mais abundante, até as áreas sob Cerrado da Região Centro-Oeste.…”
