Characterization and pathogenicity of Rhizoctonia SPP. isolated from vegetable crops grown in greenhouses in Samsun province, Turkey

Abstract: A total of one hundred and five isolates of Rhizoctonia belonging to 7 anastomosis groups (AGs) were obtained from the diseased roots and rhizosphere soils of bean, cucumber, eggplant, pepper and tomato plants grown in greenhouses in Samsun province (Black Sea region, Turkey) during the period 2011-2012. The isolates of Rhizoctonia spp. were examined for their cultural characteristics, anastomosis groups and pathogenicity. Of these, 83.8% were multinucleate Rhizoctonia solani (AG-2, AG-4, AG-5 and AG-6) and… Show more

“…Genetic differences in hypertension and their subgroups have been phylogenetically assessed using PCR-based DNA fingerprint techniques even in the absence of prior knowledge of the sequences [ 34 , 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 ]. Several studies have reported that Rhizoctonia isolates within many AGs have caused diseases in important crops in Turkey to date [ 11 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 ]; however, there are no detailed reports identifying the AGs and their subgroups of Rhizoctonia isolates causing the root rot and wirestem of red cabbage in Turkey. No information is available about the aggressiveness of the red cabbage isolates to red cabbage cultivars commonly cultivated in the country.…”

“…Previous research reported R. solani and binucleate Rhizoctonia (Ceratobasidium sp.) on tomato plants (Bolkan & Ribeiro, 1985;Eken & Tuncer, 2019;Gondal et al, 2019;Misawa & Kuninaga, 2010;Montealegre et al, 2003;Pourmahdi & Taheri, 2015;Yıldırım & Erper, 2017). Only one report related to soils of the greenhouse tomato growing area had been documented in Samsun province, Türkiye (Yıldırım & Erper, 2017).…”

“…The primary objective of this research was to determine which AG occur in the soils of the greenhouse tomato-growing areas of the West Mediterranean Region, Türkiye. Previously, only one report related to the soils of greenhouse tomato-growing areas had been documented in Samsun province, Türkiye (Yıldırım & Erper, 2017). They isolated AG 4 from the rhizosphere region of tomato, but did not determine its subgroups.…”
