Characteristics of multiwalled carbon nanotubes-rhenium nanocomposites with varied rhenium mass fractions

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to discuss the process of oxidation of carbon nanotubes subsequently subjected to the process of decoration with rhenium nanoparticles. The influence of functionalization in an oxidizing medium is presented and the results of investigations using Raman spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy are discussed. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes rhenium-type nanocomposites with the weight percentage of 10%, 20% and 30% of rhenium are also presented in the article. The structural components of… Show more

“…After the oxidation process of MWCNTs, additional adsorption bands were emerged (Figure 5, spectrum b). As seen, pronounced adsorption bands characteristic for CO observed stretching of aromatic ester, CO vibrational stretching of conjugated ketone, and OH vibrational stretching of alcohols were noticed at 1360, 1660, and 3440 cm −1 , respectively 57 . The emerge of these new IR adsorption bands indicated the surface functionalization of MWCNTs which is advantageous for polymer grafting.…”

“…ReNPs can also be integrated on various supports via wet impregnation. Dobrzańska-Danikiewicz et al [160,177] made gas or liquid sensors based on MWCNTs decorated with ReNPs. The MWCNTs were fabricated by catalytic chemical vapor deposition of C 2 H 4 on a silicon substrate at 750 °C for 45 min.…”
