Objective The aim of this study is to examine the experience of grandparenting a preterm grandchild up to first year after the birth, in the Israeli context. Background The birth of a preterm infant has an impact on the entire family, including grandparents. Although preterm birth is very common, thus far, there are only a few published studies about grandparents of premature infants. Method The study was designed and conducted according to the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis method. In‐depth semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 13 grandparents ages 54–72 years. Results Results indicated that the issue of boundaries was the core category and yielded three subthemes: (1) internal boundaries—our experience or internalized prematurity, (2) interpersonal boundaries—my grandchild and me, and (3) external boundaries between the medical facility and the grandparents—the omnipotent NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). Conclusions The current research demonstrates the importance of focusing on grandparents of premature infants as individuals in need of support, as well as an important resource for the immediate family of the baby. Implications This should be taken into consideration in visiting policies and delivery of psychosocial services in NICUs.

Mothers and babies remember the same obstetric events. Babies experience a variety of negative and positive events during birth, "Rarely do babies not experience trauma" Babies have many symptoms that parents and doctors consider normal, but are actually symptoms of birth trauma. Obstetric interventions can be traumatic without relying on other factors to produce a negative effect. The most common obstetric interventions: anesthesia, induction, forceps, and caesarean section have been found to have a traumatic impact even in the absence of previous trauma. Midwifery interventions also have profound effects in other areas of life such as relationships, communication, sexuality, religious/spiritual beliefs, and physical health. Midwives play an important role in facilitating women's positive experiences of childbirth and childbirth with minimal trauma. Researchers have called for a 'salutogenic' health promotion approach to care rather than a pathogenic approach. This study explores the topic of birth trauma research through the Google Scholar database using bibliographic information from the Google Scholar article database between 2013 and 2022 using a total sampling technique. Data was extracted using Publish or Perish, VOS Viewer and Mendeley Desktop.

Doğumda öz-yeterlik, doğumun türü ve yönetimi için önemlidir. Yüksek öz yeterliliğe sahip kadınlar vajinal doğumu tercih etmekte, doğum ağrısını daha kolay yönetmekte, daha az analjezik müdahaleye ihtiyaç duymakta ve doğumda daha az komplikasyon yaşamaktadır. Bu çalışma, Türk gebelerde Doğum Öz Yeterlik Envanteri Kısa Versiyonunun (CBSEI-32) faktör yapısını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışma metodolojik bir tasarımda yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini Karaman Devlet Hastanesi Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum Polikliniğine başvuran gebeler oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak, anneleri tanıtıcı bilgi formu ve Doğum Öz-yeterlilik Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde sayı, yüzde, aritmetik ortalama, faktör analizi ve Cronbach alfa katsayısı kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Açımlayıcı faktör analizi (AFA) sonucunda sonuç beklentisi (SBAS) alt boyutunda yer alan 6, 12, 13 ve 16. maddeler faktör yük değerleri 0.32'nin altında olduğu için çıkarılmıştır. 28 maddeden oluşan iki faktörlü yapı ise sonuç beklentisi (SBAS) ve öz-yeterlik beklentisi (EBAS) olarak elde edilmiştir. Ölçekten elde edilen puanlar doğrultusunda yapı geçerliliğine ilişkin ek kanıt elde etmek amacıyla doğrulayıcı faktör analizi (DFA) uygulanmıştır. Herhangi bir modifikasyonun yapılmadığı DFA sonucunda hesaplanan uyum indekslerinin p=0.00, □2/sd=2.43, GFI=0.90, AGFI=0.90, CFI=0.90 ve RMSEA=0.06 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ölçeğin genel Cronbach Alfa katsayısı 0.82 olarak bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Bu çalışma, "Doğum Öz-yeterlik Ölçeği"nin Türkçe versiyonunun kadınların gebelik sırasında doğum öz-yeterliğini ölçmek için geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğunu göstermiştir.
