Characteristics of IPMSM According to Rotor Design Considering Nonlinearity of Permanent Magnet

Abstract: As materials with various properties have been developed for the improvement of performance and lowering material cost of Permanent Magnet (PM) motors, the properties of the materials have become major factors in determining the motor performance. As such a material, the recently-developed anisotropic bonded NdFeB PM showed a nonlinear demagnetization curve. Thus in this paper, by considering the nonlinear property of the PM, a process to calculate the operating point, coupled with a nonlinear analysis of the … Show more

“…Therefore, demagnetization will occur whenever the external magnetic field is applied to bonded magnets, even during normal operation. A method for demagnetization analysis considering the nonlinearity of bonded magnets has been proposed, and has been applied to IPMSMs with different rotor designs (21) . We have also proposed a demagnetization analysis method for a Permanent magnet synchronous reluctance motor (PMASynRM) with bonded magnets (22)(23) .…”

“…The V‐shaped PM motor has the highest saliency ratio. In [5], the demagnetisation characteristics of PMs in four IPMSMs with the flat‐shape, the V‐shape, the flux concentrated and the flux concentrated‐V rotor topologies considering the non‐linearity of PMs are investigated. It is found that the PMs of flat‐shape and V‐shape rotors have better demagnetisation characteristics due to the reduced armature reaction influence on them.…”
