Purpose The purpose of this paper is to scrutinize the marketing orientation and market-oriented cultural elements of integrated Islamic schools. These integrated schools teach modern science curriculum alongside comprehensive religious instruction in an Islamic environment. Design/methodology/approach This is an inductive, exploratory research from an interpretivist study. Narrative inquiry was undertaken to understand the perceptions, attitudes and actions of school senior management and teachers. Content analysis of the school websites and social media pages was carried out. In total, 7 schools and 16 respondents became part of the purposive sample. Findings The presence of several integrated Islamic schools, experienced Islamic education leadership and Islamic education consultants are evidence of a growing sector. The schools are technologically enabled, strongly customer-oriented and adept at inter-functional coordination. The need-gap found in this sector is in competitor orientation, curriculum development and recruitment of specific criteria-based staff. Practical implications With the mushrooming of integrated Islamic schools in Pakistan, the level of competition has also risen. The schools have made a considerable investment and strives to maintain and increase the enrollment rate of the institute. This research can enlighten integrated Islamic educators about effective education marketing practices and the prevalence of marketing orientation in such schools. Originality/value In Pakistan, private primary schools strive to differentiate themselves and competitively position their value proposition. The marketization of education has begun to affect perceptions of school staff, teachers, students and academic work itself. Yet, there is scarce exploratory research on marketing done by integrated Islamic primary schools. This study will contribute foundational work for the development of a holistic marketing model tailored to the requirements of integrated Islamic schools.

Islamic Values in Higher Education Students’ Communication in Edmodo Learning Platform

This present study aims to explore students’ communication styles and Islamic values performed in their communication that is mediated in Edmodo learning platform. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed in this research. This study used observation and questionnaire to collect the data and analyzed them descriptively to present a comprehensive interpretation. The findings reveal that the students integrated Islamic values through their communication styles in the online learning atmosphere. It was demonstrated through short expressions and in the content of the conversations. Not only did the values appear explicitly, but they could also be noticed implicitly in the sentences containing suggestions, polite greetings, and consoling others. Another result promotes that the use of Edmodo as a learning management system was able to enhance their active participation in the online learning. This study offers that the students could internalize Islamic values that they learned both formally and informally in their daily communication. It indicates that the use of Islamic terms and the existence of Islamic values in the English conversations made the online learning group differ considerably from other online communities

This study examined the importance of character education in an Islamic college, especially today or which was more popular with the term of a milenial generation. The first and foremost goal of an education is the formation of students’ character (college students). Religion theory states that the goal of human moral development is the mission of religion itself, in accordance with the purpose of the Prophet Muhammad’s sending to this earth. A character education is a conscious and planned effort to instill values so that those values are internalized in the college students and to produce a good behavior or in the religious language is often called as Muhsin. Therefore, a character education is essentially an education which seeks to instill and spread virtues or in this case a Rahmatan Lil’alamin. This research was a literature review (library research) which was sourced from the library materials using a qualitative approach. Thus, the research activity was an exploration of a number of data both primary and secondary with several concrete steps such as reading and in-depth studying the primary data such as books of the research results, theses or dissertations related to the character education and Islamic education. Character education for college students is needed because all this time students are only preoccupied with lecture materials in the classroom, but lack of attention to the meaning and value behind the process it self.
