“…In today's world, with demographic expansion and increased high risk behavior, probability of death from CKD among young adults is increasing. 23 Supporting the evidence, we observed the average of CKD cases studied was 25.6 years at presentation. With the lack of an updated registry system, the rising prevalence of CKD in young productive population gives a socioeconomic impact in developing countries like India.…”

“…The burden of CKD has risen since 1990 in high-income settings, and despite generally good access to primary health care in most developed countries, attributable to ongoing exposure to risk factors, population aging, and population growth. 13,47 Within developed countries, the burden of CKD is variable as is the distribution of predisposing risk factors, which tend to be more prevalent in more socioeconomically disadvantaged populations. 47,48 Risk factor distribution may also differ between men and women and tends to increase with age; therefore, local epidemiology is relevant in development of strategies to address local risk factor burdens.…”

“…There is a sense of urgency, however, in view of a recent report that the national burden of CKD is increasing, specifically in younger adults (10). These disturbing data should prompt an effort to address contributing causes more comprehensively.…”
