Changes in the Colorado Potato Beetle (Leptinotarsa Decemlineata Say) Susceptibility Level to Pyrethroids and the Pest Resistance Mechanisms to Deltamethrin

Abstract: Monitoring of Colorado potato beetle (CPB) resistance to different insecticides has been conducted in Poland for years. This work presents the current status of the CPB susceptibility level to deltamethrin and beta-cyfluthrin, noting the important increase of pyrethroid toxicity towards the CPB, when compared with earlier data. The work also presents research on CPB resistance mechanisms to pyrethroids. The resistance research was conducted using different enzymes blockers: piperonyl butoxide, S,S,Stributylpho… Show more

“…This situation is quite threating and considered as the biggest implications for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) of this pest (Steinbach et al, 2017). Among insecticides, pyrethroid and bacterial insecticides are most commonly use insecticides against of P. xylostella in Asia especially Pakistan (Gong et al, 2010, Zamojska et al, 2011). Deltamethrin is the most important pyrethroid used against the P. xylostella (Zamojska et al, 2011).…”

“…One recent advance in pest management is the development of insecticideincorporated screens. Commercially available longlasting insecticide-incorporated screens (LLISs) contain deltamethrin, the first introduced synthetic pyrethroid, which has been in use since 1978 (Zamojska et al, 2011). Deltamethrin is a highly potent insecticide that causes hypersensitivity, tremors, and paralysis in target organisms.…”
