In primary schools, the benefits of incorporating technology in curricula have been addressed by several studies; however, technology integration as experienced by teachers is often overlooked. Teachers’ lack of confidence teaching STEM and technology subjects, their lack of appropriate preparation along with unclear curricula frameworks in technology education, and the ambiguity of the definition of technology education have scarcely been discussed in the literature. This study explored teachers’ experiences with the current integration of technology and identified challenges to the integration of technology and areas where support is needed. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data and were analyzed using content analysis. Content knowledge, proper training, and professional development programs on the integration of technology along with the need for clear and unanimous curricula standards have been perceived as important factors in the integration of technology education. Participants also acknowledged the need for the establishment of teaching communities wherein they can learn from one another. Our study discusses implications for research and practice and provides a knowledge base for the establishment of well-structured professional development courses based on teacher needs.

Die vorliegende Dissertationsarbeit Authentische Kontexte für MINT-Lernumgebungen (AutKoM) hatte zum Ziel, das Potenzial von authentischen Kontexten im Bereich von Physik, Technik sowie Informatik zur Förderung affektiver Merkmale bei Lernenden zu untersuchen. Zu diesem Zweck wurden Konstrukte wie Interesse, Einstellungen und Fähigkeitsselbstkonzept auf der Ebene der Lehramtsstudierenden (Teilstudie I) und bei Schüler*innen der Volksschule mit Schwerpunkt Sekundarstufe I (Teilstudie II) erforscht. In der zweiteiligen Interventionsstudie wurden physikalisch-technische bzw. informatisch-technische Forschungsprojekte einer Fachhochschule als authentische Lernkontexte im Setting des Lehr-Lern-Labors eingesetzt. Die empirische Prüfung der Interventionswirkung in der Teilstudie I erfolgte anhand eines quantitativen, quasi-experimentellen Prä-Inter-Post-Designs mit insgesamt N = 176 Lehramtsstudierenden und für die Teilstudie II entlang eines quantitativen Prä-Post-Designs mit insgesamt N = 1 156 Schüler*innen vom 5. bis 9. Schuljahr. Die in der Teilstudie I als Lernkontexte eingesetzten, aktuellen Forschungsprojekte der technischen Fachhochschule wiesen insgesamt hohe Werte für die Authentizität, den Alltagsbezug und die Interessenvalenzen auf, jedoch tiefe Werte für die Besonderheit. Im Setting des Lehr-Lern-Labor-Seminars konnte ein signifikanter Anstieg des physikbezogenen Fähigkeitsselbstkonzepts, als Teilkonstrukt der Teilidentität für Physik und Technik, bei den angehenden Lehrkräften nachgewiesen werden. Die empirischen Befunde der Teilstudie II erbrachten, dass die Technikeinstellungen von Schweizer Kindern und Jugendlichen sich hinsichtlich des Geschlechts und des Alters in allen sechs gemessenen Subdimensionen signifikant unterschieden. Die zwei jeweils halbtägigen MINT-Fördermaßnahmen bewirkten teils genderspezifische Veränderungen der Technikeinstellungen bei den Schüler*innen. Die Ergebnisse der vorliegenden Studie implizieren, dass Kooperationen zwischen technischen Fachhochschu-Abstract 4 len und der Lehramtsausbildung es ermöglichen, stark fachlich geprägte Forschungsprojekte didaktisch aufbereitet als Lehr-Lern-Material zur Förderung des Professionswissens und -handelns angehender Lehrpersonen sowie für den außerschulischen MINT-Lerneinsatz auf der Volksschulstufe zu nutzen.
