Chain-network anatase/TiO2 (B) thin film with improved photocatalytic efficiency

Abstract: A 3-dimensional chain-network anatase/TiO2 (B) was obtained via the basic hydrothermal treatment of a sandwich Ti/TiO2/Ti film on a glass substrate that was prepared from 16 nm anatase TiO2 nanoparticles. The Ti film was converted to the TiO2 (B) phase in a Teflon vessel containing a 10 M NaOH aqueous solution that was encapsulated in a stainless-steel autoclave and heated at 130 °C for 2 h. The TiO2 (B) then served as a binder layer that enabled the formation of pearl-necklace chains made of anatase TiO2 nano… Show more

“…6 . The peaks of Ti 2p 3/2 at 459.4 eV and Ti 2p 1/2 at 465.0 eV indicate the presence of Ti 4+ and that Ti is present in the form of TiO 2 35 . The O1s peak can be deconvoluted into 2 peaks located at 530 and 531 eV.…”

“…The intensity of photoluminescence emission is dependent on effectiveness of the electron–hole recombination process. The greater the photoluminescence emission, the more efficient the recombination process, which indicates lower activity for photocatalysis . Photoluminescence emissions of original and Au/Pd/Pt core–shell nanoparticle-modified TiO 2 and NaTaO 3 materials were examined (Figure ).…”

“…The greater the photoluminescence emission, the more efficient the recombination process, which indicates lower activity for photocatalysis. 63 Photoluminescence emissions of original and Au/ Pd/Pt core−shell nanoparticle-modified TiO 2 and NaTaO 3 materials were examined (Figure 5). All of the samples were excited by light of 330 nm wavelength.…”

“…It is essential to study the photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra of semiconductor photocatalysis, which can provide information regarding electron-hole recombination processes. The PL signal is obtained from emitted photons by electron-hole pair recombination in a photocatalysis [39].The higher PL emission signal the more efficient the recombination process, and the lower the activity for photocatalysis [40]. Figure 4 displays PL emission spectra of prepared photocatalysts at an excitation wavelength of 330 nm.…”
