Ceria‐Nanoparticles‐Based Microfluidic Nanobiochip Electrochemical Sensor for the Detection of Ochratoxin‐A

Abstract: Ochratoxin-A (OTA) is a fungal mycotoxin that is present in most of the food stuff, and shows adverse effects on human beings. Therefore, the rapid and accurate detection of OTA is necessary. Here, ceria nanoparticles based microfluidic nanobiochip was fabricated for the electrochemical detection of OTA. Ceria nanoparticles were synthesized using a chemical coprecipitation method and characterized by various techniques. Raman spectroscopy confirmed the formation of fluorite cubic structure. Transmission electr… Show more

“…The obtained XRD spectra showed the XRD peaks 2θ = 38°, 44.14°, 64.24°, 77.24°, 81.36°, 97.66°, respectively, with an intense peak at 2θ = 38°. Figure 3 a shows the face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal reflection planes of the four faces of crystalline AgNPs [ 1 , 2 , 16 ]. XRD peaks confirmed the formation of FCC crystallographic planes which aligned with the standard silver peaks ( Figure 3 a).…”

“…The evolution of nanotechnology has strengthened the effective use of nanoparticles and has emerged as a radical tool for enhancing agricultural practices and moving to a more sustainable and resilient farming sector [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]. Nanoscale Particles (NSPs) are atomic or molecular-sized particles of dimension between 1 nm and 100 nm that can modify their physiochemical properties compared to bulk material [ 4 , 5 ].…”

“…Further, another two peaks at 605 and 1051 cm −1 belong to the second-order Raman line and were assigned to the longitudinal optical (LO) mode. Due to the presence of oxygen vacancies and the intrinsic defects in the nCeO 2 , a peak at 605 cm −1 was observed [ 35 ]. Also, the Raman analysis confirms the presence of a cubic fluorite structure with oxygen vacancies in the synthesized nCeO 2 .…”

“…Considering comparison to these techniques, UV-visible spectroscopy is a well-known and absorbance-based technique that is relatively cost effective, easy to handle, and requires a tiny sample from an experimental point of view. (Dhiman et al, 2019) One such approach is exploring nano-systems for direct and label-free detection of foodborne toxins. There is an urgent need to design and develop an electrooptical metal oxide-based nano-system for sensing applications to achieve this task.…”
