“…Besides the comparison of slope conditions before and after a centrifuge test, exact and real-time deformation data during centrifugal force loading are also critical parameters, revealing far greater detail about the slope instability mechanisms. Traditional methods that trace the deformation are usually accomplished through surveillance cameras and plastic markers embedded in the slope surface (Raisinghani and Viswanadham, 2011;Rajabian et al, 2012); however, they cannot provide specific and real-time deformation data. Electromagnetic sensors, such as displacement gauge, earth pressure cell and osmometer are also used in centrifugal model testing, but these electromagnetic sensing elements often output weak voltage signals that are vulnerable to magnetic interference, complex wiring schemes that do not conform to narrow volume of centrifugal tanks.…”
