Abstract: BACKGROUND: New ultrasensitive methods for detecting residual disease after surgery are needed in human papillomavirus-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPV+OPSCC). The authors used digital droplet polymerase chain reaction to detect ctHPVDNA in 34 patients before and after transoral robotic surgery, and they suggest that levels of ctHPVDNA on postoperative day 1 (POD1) were significantly associated with pathologic risk for residual disease and traditional indications for adjuvant therapy.…”
