Cecorraphy in single layer using polypropylene and poliglecaprone 25 threads: comparative study in rats

Abstract: PURPOSE:To compare sutures with polypropylene and poliglecaprone 25 after partial cecotomy in rats. METHODS:Thirty six rats divided into two groups, A and B, of 18 animals; each group was also divided into three subgroups of six animals sacrificed at 4 th , 7 th and 14 th days after surgery. Were studied the mortality, morbidity, complications attributable to sutures, macroscopy, optical microscopy and measurement of hydroxyproline at the level of the suture. RESULTS:There were no deaths or wound complications… Show more

“…As, in contaminated wounds, the maintenance of neutrophil chemotaxis becomes more prolonged to allow these cells to exert their function of phagocytosis or the destruction of microorganisms by means of enzymatic mechanisms and oxygen radicals, these were supposed to be the main reasons of the inflammatory response. Some authors share similar thinking . But contrary to this hypothesis, bacteriostatic potential was identified in the CG yarn in an in vitro study…”

“…Thus, the analyses of the macroscopic and microscopic findings of this study suggest that the CG yarn, despite the small number of experiments, is a promising yarn. As PG is standardized for different types of sutures and the CG yarn triggered similar tissue responses, the conclusion is that it has great potential to be used as quality surgical yarn.…”

“…The manual suture can be made in one [11][12][13] or two suture lines 14 , with good results. Gastrointestinal anastomoses had a long evolution during the history of medicine 15,16 .…”
