“…The overexpression of soybean CDCP genes, namely GmCBS21 and GmCBSDUF3, have been reported to impart tolerance to low nitrogen and multiple abiotic stresses, respectively [14,15]. In Arabidopsis, AtCBSX1 and AtCBSX3 have been identified to interact with the thioredoxins (Trxs) in the chloroplast and mitochondria, respectively, and thereby regulate the ROS levels in the respective organelles [16,17]. The chloride channel sub-family of CDCPs in plants has been inferred to function in nitrate transport and Cl − sequestration [18].…”

“…OsDGK8 plays a role in generating phosphatidic acid (PA) in response to biotic and abiotic stresses (Li et al, 2015), suggesting that it may participate in PA-dependent ROS production. OsCBSX10, UDP-glycosyltransferase, Yr10-like protein, OsRING-1 and their Arabidopsis homologs were documented to perform functions in mitochondrial ROS accumulation, pathogen-induced oxidative burst as well as hypersensitive responses (Meng et al, 2006;Coram et al, 2010;Shin et al, 2020). Thus, these data collectively suggest that downregulation of such genes in idr1-1 mutant presumably attenuates ROS production and cell death in different cellular compartments or tissues.…”

“…The CBS domain-containing proteins are a large superfamily of proteins that conserve CBS domains, which play a regulatory role for many enzymes. It has been reported that CBSX1 and CBSX2 are related to the level of ROS activated by thioredoxin and directly involved in the deposition of lignin (Wook et al, 2013 ; Shin et al, 2020 ). Moreover, there is research evidence to confirm that CBSX3 knockdown plants are severely sterile, which is caused by the failure of anther dehiscence due to secondary wall thickening (Shin et al, 2020 ).…”

Moreover, there is research evidence to confirm that CBSX3 knockdown plants are severely sterile, which is caused by the failure of anther dehiscence due to secondary wall thickening (Shin et al, 2020 ). In sterile wheat anthers caused by HT, the anther wall does not display dehiscence, and the expression of CBS domain-containing protein CBSX6-like (CBSX6-L) gene ( TraesCS7D01G259800 ) is downregulated in sterile anthers ( Figure 9 ).…”
