“…Considering these observations, we believe, a co-operative phenomenon, wherein the proximity of two active species along with a right kind of participation of host matrix, may be essential for the reaction to occur on such metallomacrocycles immobilized materials. Similar observations were recently corroborated by Iliev et al [68] for oxidation and photooxidation of sulfur containing compounds over phthalocyanine and salen complexes immobilized in LDHs and zeolites as host materials wherein the activity of immobilized samples were lower than that of neat complexes and attributed to retardation of oxygen and reactants towards the active sites. However, very recently there was a promising report by Constantino and coworkers [69] on the selective oxidation of catechol by FePcTs intercalated HTs, who concluded that heterogeneous counterparts were better in both activity and longevity than the homogeneous forms.…”

“…Fortuitously, the new polymer displays a marked improvement in photostability, allowing for numerous repetitions of the photooxidation without degradation of the sensitizer. Immobilized zinc phthalocyanine and SALEN (1,6-bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2,5-diaza-1,5-hexadiene), complexes have been studied as photocatalysts for the oxidation of 2-mercaptoethanol and sodium thiosulfate [55]. The complexes were anchored on silica or intercalated in the galleries and cavities of layered double hydroxides and zeolite.…”
