Catalytic activity of Na-CaO nanocrystalline for vanillin-based chalcone syntheses

Abstract: A heterogeneous base catalyst, Na-CaO, was prepared by wet impregnation of NaOH solution on CaO solid support originated from chicken eggshells waste. Material characterization using TGA, FTIR, XRD, SEM, EDAX and BET surface area has confirmed the formation of Na-CaO. The catalyst was applied in chalcone syntheses between acetophenone and vanillin at several reaction conditions, such as various weight of catalyst, temperature, type of solvents and reaction time. The highest yield of product (97%) was obtained … Show more

“…Aldol condensation, transesterification in biodiesel production, and Schiff base formation have been reported to be catalyzed using ACE. [8][9][10][11][12] In the previous study, some salts and bases, such as KCl, KNO3 and KOH were impregnated onCaO-based catalyst to improve their catalytic activity. [13][14][15] Hu et al prepared KNO3/CaO via dry impregnation method and applied it for glycerol carbonate synthesis.…”
