Andean tubers are a group of basic plants in the security and food sovereignty of Andean community for thousands of years. The conservation of the infra and interspecific diversity of these plants is a strategy for environmental adaptation rooted in the high-Andean cultural identity. Solanum tuberosum, Oxalis tuberosa, Tropaeolum tuberosum and Ullucus tuberosus, have in common that they develop edible modified stems with a wide variety of shapes, colors, and flavors, and these are cultivated in the Andean countries. The high diversity of Andean tuberous species is heterogeneously distributed and concentrated in micro-centers of diversification distributed in South American countries. The aim of this work was to determine the general distribution pattern of the four mentioned species and their agrogeographic nodes. With the coordinates of presence of these four species, registered in the GBIF platform (Global Biodiversity Information Facility), biogeographical methods were applied to model the individual traces that show the distribution pattern of each species and through the intersection of these, a generalized trace that makes visible the distribution patterns of Andean tubers, as well as their agro-geographical nodes. The greatest diversity of the four species is concentrated in these intersections, favoring domestication scenarios. Some micro-centers of diversity identified, correspond to those defined in the investigations of morphological or molecular characterizations. The main nodes were found in Peru and Ecuador between the biogeographic provinces of Puno, in the South American Transition Zone and the Yungas, from the southern Brazilian domain. The study of the geographical distribution patterns of cultivated plants allows to identify the patterns of plant exchange of the human groups involved in their management. The diversity of native potatoes cultivated above 3500 masl in the Pasco region (Central Andes of Peru) has not been fully characterized. It is currently subject to constant genetic erosion caused by biotic and abiotic factors. The research aimed to characterize phenotypically and genotypically 40 native potato landraces representative of 4 Solanum species. Twenty phenotypic descriptors and 10 microsatellites were used for genetic evaluation. Likewise, the ploidy level was evaluated based on the number of chloroplasts in the stomata. The clustering analysis was performed using the Infostat software and the R program with the Adegenet and Polysat libraries. The phenotypic characterization allowed to obtain five groups with a distance coefficient of 9.5. The molecular characterization found seven groups and 58 alleles in total. The average number of alleles per microsatellite was 5.5. 13.2 % of duplicates were identified. The microsatellites STG001, STM1106, ST0032, and STM5127 with an average He of 0.8 and a polymorphism information content (PIC) of 0.5 - 0.8 were the most informative. Finally, the ploidy results were 13 % diploid, 35 % triploid, and 52 % tetraploid. It was evidenced low diversity when using a set of 10 SSR markers, which indicates limited applicability for studying the genetic diversity of local potato landraces. It is necessary to involve a broader range of markers and a more diverse set of genotypes from the Pasco region for further studies.

The objective of the study was to investigate the antimicrobial activity of tunta on Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Typhimurium. A natural isolate of this bacterium was used that was resistant to chloramphenicol. The experiment required the preparation of a standard solution of 0,8 g / ml of tunta extract. The Kirby Bauer technique was used for the antimicrobial evaluation of the tests and the Duraffourd scale to measure the level of sensitivity. Resulting, for the ten technical repetitions of the experimental group, an average halo of 10,40 mm and a standard deviation of 0,63 of DHI (level of limit sensitivity, according to said scale). In conclusion, our work shows evidence that tunta has an antimicrobial effect at a borderline sensitivity level on Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Typhimurium. After more in-depth research, this derivative of Solanum Jueepczukii could become an alternative for the development of antibiotics of natural origin and allow a sustainable development of Andean cultures.
