Cardiovascular risk rate in hypertensive patients attended in primary health care units: the influence of pharmaceutical care

Abstract: Cardiovascular complications are relevant due to their frequency and severity on the hypertension scenario. Studies refer Pharmaceutical Care (PC) as capable of decreasing cardiovascular risk rate (%CVR) on hypertensive patients. This study aimed to investigate, through a randomized clinical assay, the influence of PC service on the %CVR of hypertensive patients assisted in a health primary care unit from Fortaleza-Ceará. Two study groups were formed: i. Intervention Group (IG), which received orientation abou… Show more

“…We observed in IG that the increase in medication compliance implies to decrease in mean of DRP. This result is similar to that reported by other authors who showed pharmaceutical interventions as beneficial for blood pressure and triglycerides (Santsch et al, 2011;Santsch et al, 2012;Charrois et al, 2012;Cheema, Sutcliffe, Singer, 2014;Wal et al, 2013;Firmino et al, 2015). However, these studies have been limited a hypertension and diabetes, MetS is rarely investigated.…”

“…One study (Mourão et al, 2013) presented a high ROB in blinding of participants because the control group had access to all basal laboratory tests during the study, which could have interfered in the results of the intervention. Three studies (Firmino et al, 2015;Mourão et al, 2013;Plaster et al, 2012) did not report blinding of outcome assessment (unclear ROB). Incomplete data were due to incomplete reporting of participant dropouts in two studies (Firmino et al, 2015;Plaster et al, 2012).…”
