Cardiovascular Complications in Patients with Prostate Cancer: Potential Molecular Connections

Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and complications are often seen in patients with prostate cancer (PCa) and affect their clinical management. Despite acceptable safety profiles and patient compliance, androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), the mainstay of PCa treatment and chemotherapy, has increased cardiovascular risks and metabolic syndromes in patients. A growing body of evidence also suggests that patients with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions show an increased incidence of PCa and present with fatal fo… Show more

“…We did not subdivide this category under two types: natural immunity, received from the maternal side, and artificial immunity, received from medicine [34,39] as it is beyond the scope of this paper. In Figure 1 we have created an Erdos-Renyi random network of 30 agents where deep magenta, light magenta, white, lighter green, and deep green represent an agent with very low, somewhat low, medium, somewhat high and very high respectively [40,41].…”

“…Reducing the cardiovascular toxicity of ADT is generally approached by controlling modifiable risk factors such as blood pressure and lipid profile while encouraging a healthy diet, physical activity, and the avoidance of tobacco and excess alcohol consumption [63]. The etiology of cardiovascular disease in men with prostate cancer continues to be a subject of ongoing research [64,65].…”

“…Therefore, they are more vulnerable to occupational stress compared to their female counterparts. CVDs are more prone to when associated with other diseases [43]. Moreover, men are more likely to engage in unhealthy lifestyle behaviours such as tobacco use, heavy alcohol consumption, and physical inactivity, which are major risk factors for CVD.…”

“…We can say that thyroid disorder increases the probability of developing CVDs. Chronic lung diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, are one of the top 10 NCDs responsible for 3.9 million deaths each year [43,44]. Air pollution is a significant contributor to the high rates of chronic respiratory disease in Bangladesh.…”
