“…The majority of CRC recurrences are known to occur within 2 years of curative treatment, with over 80% occurring within 3 years and 90–95% by 5 years (Table ). Interestingly, the distribution of time to recurrence appears to have changed little over more than 60 years, despite advances in preoperative diagnosis, surgical technique and adjuvant therapies . Many studies either fail to mention follow‐up duration or are limited by a short minimum follow‐up time, resulting in the potential to overestimate the proportion of early recurrences and miss late ones.…”
