Sustainable management issues of waste during drilling oil wells in marine conditions, the process of disposal of drill cuttings in the conditions of deficiency, and fuzzy initial information using fuzzy inference system are investigated. Based on the conducted system analysis, the main criteria for controlling the process of re-injection of suspended drill cuttings were analyzed and selected. We described the technology of preparation and injection of drill cuttings slurry into the underground horizon. The method of modeling and management of the process of disposal of drilling cuttings in the marine environment in a fuzzy environment with the use of fuzzy inference system, which helps to overcome the problems of scarcity and fuzziness of the original information due to the knowledge and experience of experts are proposed. The scheme and structure of the elements of the fuzzy inference system based on the Mamdani algorithm are given. The implementation of the fuzzy output system procedure was carried out in MatLab using Fuzzy Logic Toolbox. For the purpose of sustainable waste management in the process of oil production of marine fields, waste management tasks are formulated as a fuzzy mathematical programming problem, which takes into account economic and environmental criteria and many production constraints that may be fuzzy. Since the vector of such criteria is characterized by inconsistency, the developed methods for solving the set tasks of sustainable management are based on various tradeoff schemes modified to work in a fuzzy environment. The novelty and originality of the developed methods lies in the fact that, unlike the well-known methods of similar methods for solving fuzzy problems, they are set and solved without conversion to a system of equivalent deterministic problems, with-out losing the main part of the collected fuzzy information. This allows, through the full use of the original fuzzy information, to obtain a more adequate solution to the fuzzy problem of the real problem under production conditions.

Road transport is a primary source of various forms of air pollution and climate-impacting emissions, and contains huge potential for improving the environment and combating climate change. This paper studies the environmental sustainability of road transport for a set of OECD countries over the period 2000–2014. We capture the sustainability performance of road transport in two data envelopment analysis (DEA) models, corresponding to the concepts of natural disposability and managerial disposability, respectively. Air pollution and carbon emissions are treated as undesirable outputs. The models produce two unified measures of environmental sustainability performance, accounting for transport activities and environmental impacts simultaneously. We find that the studied countries have improved their overall managerial disposability performance from 2000 to 2014, driven by technological progress and tightening regulations on fuel economy and vehicle emissions. The analysis enables us to identify best-practice and laggard countries in transport sustainability.

Some Influences of Underground Coal Gasification on the Environment

Increasing energy costs and energy demand have renewed global interest in clean coal technologies. Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) is an industrial process that converts coal into product gas. UCG is a promising technology with a lot of health, safety and environmental advantages over conventional mining techniques. UCG carries risks to human health, agriculture and the environment. This article briefly analyzes the advantages and negative environmental impacts of UCG. It describes experimental objects, mathematical models as tools for simulation cases and it used coal from UCG experiments in Cigel, Barbara and Wieczorek mines to analyze the environmental impacts of UCG. The gasification converts the carbon in the coal to syngas and heat. We carried out a numerical simulation of the two-dimensional unstable heat conduction in the coal and overburden, with the aim of judging the influence of this heat source on the surroundings, including the surface. The results show that the temperature in the surrounding rock first increases and then decreases with time, the peak of the temperature curve decreases gradually, and its position moves inside the surrounding rock from the ignition point. A small amount of potentially dangerous syngas leaks from the UCG cavity and channels into vulnerable areas depending on working pressures. The danger of explosion and poisoning in vulnerable zones was evaluated by the simulation model. The results show that the danger is real but by monitoring and controlling the air in the vulnerable area it is possible to reduce this risk.
