A B S T R A C TThe simulation of oat development cycle can be used in the planning of agricultural practices. The aim of the study was to simulate and validate the duration of oat development cycle by photoperiod, temperature and coefficients of development of wheat for use in the WEStreck model, considering different doses of N-fertilizer and systems of succession of high and low C/N ratio. The study was conducted in 2015 in a randomized block design with four replicates in a 4 x 2 factorial scheme, corresponding to N rates (0, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha -1 ) and oat cultivars (Barbarasul and Brisasul), respectively, in the soybean/oat and maize/ oat systems. The duration of the stages from emergence to anthesis and from anthesis to maturation of oats was simulated in the WE-Streck model. The minimum, optimum and maximum temperatures that effectively simulate the oat development cycle were 4, 22 and 30 °C from emergence to anthesis and 15, 25 and 35 °C from anthesis to maturation, respectively. The intermediate-cycle oat development was efficiently simulated by the WEStreck model using coefficients developed for wheat, with vegetative and reproductive cycles estimated at 89 and 43 days, respectively. Simulação do ciclo de desenvolvimento da aveia por fotoperíodo e temperatura R E S U M OA simulação do ciclo de desenvolvimento da aveia pode ser utilizada no planejamento de práticas agrícolas. Objetivou-se simular e validar a duração do ciclo de desenvolvimento da aveia por intermédio de fotoperíodo, temperatura e coeficientes de desenvolvimento do trigo para uso no modelo WE-Streck, considerando diferentes doses de N-fertilizante e sistemas de sucessão de alta e reduzida relação C/N. O estudo foi conduzido em 2015, em delineamento de blocos casualizados com 4 repetições em esquema fatorial 4 x 2 para doses de nitrogênio (0, 30, 60 e 120 kg ha -1 ) e cultivares de aveia (Barbarasul e Brisasul), respectivamente, no sistema soja/aveia e milho/aveia. No modelo WE-Streck foi simulada a duração das fases emergência à antese e antese à maturação da aveia. As temperaturas mínima, ótima e máxima que simulam com eficiência o ciclo de desenvolvimento da aveia da emergência à antese, foram 4, 22 e 30 °C, respectivamente e da antese à maturação 15, 25 e 35 °C, respectivamente. A simulação do desenvolvimento da aveia de ciclo médio pelo modelo WE-Streck foi eficiente usando coeficientes desenvolvidos para o trigo, com ciclo vegetativo e reprodutivo estimado em 89 e 43 dias, respectivamente.

One of the limitations to producing irrigated forages is setting suitable biometric parameters to establish the entrance of animals to grazing areas. Such parameters can be measured or even estimated. Estimates are advantageous for being practical and able to be used for grazing optimization. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation among growing degree-days (GDD), canopy height (CH), leaf area index (LAI), and number of cycle days (NCD) of Guinea grass (Panicum maximum cv. Mombaça) and Bermuda grass (Cynodon spp. Tifton 85) single cropped for one year and overseeded with black oat and ryegrass in the autumn-winter season. The study was carried out from February 2016 to February 2017, and forage crops were sprinkle irrigated. LAI and CH were measured twice a week, at intervals of 3 and 4 days. These parameters were correlated to GDD accumulation at each cutting cycle (CC). All the correlations showed high coefficients in linear fits. For spring-summer cycles, Guinea grass in exclusive cultivation showed the highest averages for CH and LAI, being 102.3 cm and 5.93, respectively. For autumnwinter cycles, when this grass was overseeded, it showed an LAI value similar to that when single cropped, which was of about 5.6. Yet single Bermuda grass presented lower values of LAI (one unit lower) and CH (16.4 cm lower) in the autumn-winter season when compared to that overseeded. The spring-summer cycles of Guinea grass had a duration of 24 days, after which no increase in leaf production was registered.

Resumo: Na região Sul do Brasil, no período do inverno o azevém (Lolium multiflorum Lam) se torna fundamental para a formação de pastagens. No entanto, o uso e a comercialização de sementes de azevém tetraploide têm crescido em relação aos diploides, devido, principalmente, a qualidade superior de suas sementes. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a qualidade das sementes de azevém tetraploide, comercializadas no Estado de Santa Catarina. Foram utilizados seis lotes de sementes de azevém tetraploide da cultivar Barjumbo, oriundos de diferentes estabelecimentos comerciais do Estado de Santa Catarina. Cada lote de semente foi obtido a partir de coleta oficial. Buscaram-se lotes de sementes da categoria certificada, sendo dois lotes de cada país produtor (Argentina, Brasil e Uruguai). Avaliou-se a qualidade física e fisiológica a partir dos testes de pureza física, massa de mil sementes, teste de germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, comprimento da parte aérea e da raiz e massa seca da área e da raiz. Os resultados demonstram que 100% dos lotes analisados atendem os padrões legais de pureza física e germinação para a comercialização de sementes, independente da origem. Para o teste de germinação os resultados obtidos foram 27% superiores ao padrão legal. Os lotes de sementes de azevém tetraploides nacionais comercializados em Santa Catarina, mesmo apresentando-se dentro dos padrões legais para os testes de pureza física e germinação, apresentaram menor vigor quando comparados aos lotes oriundos da Argentina e Uruguai. Abstract:In the southern region of Brazil, during the winter period ryegrass becomes essential for pasture formation. The use and commercialization of tetraploid ryegrass seeds has grown in relation to diploids, mainly due to the superior quality of their seeds. The objective of this work was to evaluate the quality of tetraploid ryegrass seeds commercialized in the State of Santa Catarina. Six plots of tetraploid ryegrass seeds of the Barjumbo cultivar from different commercial establishments in the State of Santa Catarina were used. Each batch of seed was obtained from official collection. Lots of seeds of the certified category were searched, being two lots from each producing country (Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay). The physical and physiological quality was evaluated from the physical purity tests, mass of one thousand seeds, germination test, first germination count, shoot and root length and dry mass of the area and root. The results show that 100% of the analyzed lots meet the legal standards of physical purity for the commercialization of seeds. For the germination test the results obtained are 27% higher than the legal standard. The plots of tetraploid ryegrass seeds commercialized in Santa Catarina were within the legal standards for the physical purity and germination tests, while the other criteria showed inferior performance when compared to the plots of Argentina and Uruguay.
