Capacity and Modeling of Acid Blue 113 Dye Adsorption onto Chitosan Magnetized by Fe2O3 Nanoparticles

Abstract: A chitosan polymer was magnetized by coating with magnetite Fe2O3 nanoparticles, and the resultant material (C-Fe2O3) was first characterized through scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, thermogravimetric, X-ray diffractometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, and point of zero charge analyses. C-Fe2O3 was then employed as a separable and efficient adsorptive agent to remove ac… Show more

“…The Q m was 83.33 mg AB 113/g ARM and 35.58 mg RB5/g ARM [ 30 ]. Thus, 128 mg AB 113/g of C-Fe 2 O 3 was obtained (where C-Fe 2 O 3 is chitosan magnetized by Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles) [ 31 ].…”

“… 52 As can be seen from Figure 11 , the kinetics adsorption of phosphate consists of three consecutive phases: bulk diffusion, film diffusion, and pore diffusion. 34 The first stage observed at 1.4 < t 0.5 < 3.9 min 0.5 was rapid, the rate slowed down slightly in the second phase, and equilibrium was established at the third stage. The diffusion of phosphate molecules through pores to the active sites of CZD at the third phase.…”

“…Agglomerations and/or aggregations at greater doses of ZGS and Z lead to an increase in the diffusion path length for adsorption of CR leading in turn to a noticeable decrease in the rate of adsorption 61 64 as well as a general reduction in the sorbent–sorbate contact. 6 , 42 …”

“…Because of their higher activity, they generally represent nearly 50 to 70% of the total quantities of dyes directed toward each of plastic, textile, and paper industries. 6 One of those dyes is the anionic type of diazo-benzidine known as Congo red. The latter is very familiar with its high resistance to being biodegraded because of its complex aromatic structure.…”
