Can Inoculation Withstand Multiple Attacks?

Abstract: This investigation introduced multiple competitive attacks in order to assess the effectiveness of inoculation treatments in protecting established attitudes in a natural setting. A four-phase experiment was conducted involving 433 participants. The results revealed that the effectiveness of refutational inoculation messages dissipated some in the face of an additional attack. Still, refutational inoculation messages proved to be more effective than supportive, restoration, and control (no message) conditions … Show more

“…At present, it is difficult to envisage the BLS technique to be implemented in commercial magnonic devices for the detection of SWs. However, an interesting opportunity lies in using the inelastic light scattering for SW amplification [230], in particular in light of the recent discovery of room temperature BEC of magnons [63]. The sensitivity of BLS is limited to the surface region thinner than the optical skin depth and requires a high surface quality of the studied samples.…”

“…Future research should therefore explore repeated psychological booster shots. Some misinformation scholars have argued that in the days after an inoculation intervention, the inoculation effect might increase rather than decrease, as the inoculation effect might have to "sink in" 38,39 . However, our findings point in the opposite direction: decay is more likely to be exponential (i.e., more decay takes place closer to the intervention date).…”

“…Consistent with previous inoculation research (Ivanov et al , 2009; Banas and Rains, 2010), the attack message included arguments designed to challenge the negative participant attitudes toward texting and driving (i.e. convince them that texting while driving acceptable), as the following excerpt suggests:…”
