Number sense merupakan salah satu kemampuan fundamental siswa yang harus dapat dukungan disepanjang pendidikan mereka. Berdasarkan hasil kajian pustaka, ditemukan berbagai kendala untuk mengembangkan number sense. Hal tersebut diyakini dapat diatasi dengan melakukan inovasi dalam pembelajaran, salah satunya bidang teknologi. Hadirnya tantangan baru dalam pembelajaran matematika saat ini, yakni pandemi Covid-19, menjadi salah satu pemicu berkembangnya keterlibatan teknologi dalam situasi belajar mengajar. Saat inipun, cukup banyak penelitian yang mengungkapkan keberhasilan penggunaan teknologi dalam mengatasi permasalahan pembelajaran yang ada, salah satunya permasalahan number sense. Tujuan studi ini adalah untuk menjabarkan hasil telaah secara teoritis tentang ragam keterlibatan teknologi yang ditujukan untuk mengembangkan number sense siswa. Studi ini merupakah penelitian dengan metode kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan studi pustaka yang melibatkan berbagai literatur mulai dari buku, artikel penelitian, serta berbagai dokumen resmi lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan teknologi dalam mengatasi number sense dapat dilihat dari berbagai aspek, dua diantaranya adalah:(1) aktivitas-aktivitas pendukung number sense berbasis teknologi, dan (2) perkembangan teknologi pembelajaran dan media belajar berupa gim yang berkaitan dengan number sense. Meskipun demikian, para pendidik harus mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor kesiapan pembelajaran dalam kelas secara lebih khusus karena teknologi yang akan digunakan bisa saja menjadi hal yang memerlukan adaptasi lebih lanjut dalam pembelajaran di kelas.

Teachers play a critical role in ensuring their pupils succeed in their studies. Educators must select acceptable teaching methods to ensure an effective learning experience. By applying the t-test statistical analysis, this research aimed to evaluate the efficiency of the thinking maps approach with traditional ways in increasing student achievement for a number base topic. This study involved 120 Form 4 pupils from 4 schools in Pahang. This research implemented a quantitative approach (quasi-experimental method). The research featured an experimental group (n = 60) and a control group (n = 60). As research tools, a set of pre-test and post-test inquiries were used. The application of thinking maps improved student achievement in mathematics subjects. There was a substantial difference in mean scores between the control and experimental groups, where the mean score of the experimental group seemed to be higher than that of the control group. Additionally, mean scores before and after the teaching and learning sessions showed a positive increase in both categories. Nevertheless, compared to the control group, the experimental group that utilised thinking maps showed a higher ascent in the mean score. The findings of this study can assist teachers to develop a thinking map as one of the teaching approaches for improving pupils' knowledge of a topic and, therefore, indirectly improving pupil academic achievement.

The definitions serve the purpose of communication and preservation of knowledge in scientific inquiry. However, it is quite often to perceive number sense concept without well-accepted definitions in the field of mathematics education research. Despite the mentioned issue, the current literature on children's number sense provide a glean for introducing, implementing, and even measuring the number sense using the specific and contextualized indicators in early mathematics. Consequently, this phenomenon offers to bridge a gap in the literature concerning definitions of number sense and its indicators. This article systematically reviews on the indicators in measuring children's number sense based on the past research guided by the PRISMA statements. The metadata were analysed using open-coding and were further re-coded through axial coding and selective coding to form a definition of number sense. This article discusses on limitations, implications, and the future research directions for studying children's number sense in the primary schools' mathematics.
