Structural safety of buildings is such an engineering state of the structures operability, foundations, the features of their joint power resistance to expected loads and impacts, taking into account their possible combinations in direction, intensity and mode, which ensures the established functional use with established reliability. The structural safety of buildings depends on design, on compositional and structural solutions, technological measures during construction and operation, which must be provided at all stages of the facility’s existence (construction, operation, repair, reconstruction, dismantling and dismantling). It is necessary to take into account the structural safety parameters of reinforced concrete structures that have received corrosion damage during solving the problems of construction and reconstruction of buildings and structures. Suggestions to quantify the reserves and exposure of structural safety and, accordingly, the reduction in power resistance of corrosion-damaged reinforced concrete structures are presented in this article.

Traditional construction solutions face increasing competition from more ecological materials such as construction systems based on wood. Thanks to the numerous favourable properties of wood, wood construction enjoys great popularity and allows building economical and modern constructions that are durable and contribute to an ecological future. This study is motivated by the need for innovative solutions in construction and offers numerous findings based on examining actual constructions based on wood. By examining the interactions among selected factors of constructions and their users, the study reacts to the global challenges that call for increased efficiency and sustainability in construction. The examination of the interactions among the selected factors offers more extensive knowledge in the field of constructions based on wood and points towards possible innovative approaches for more sustainable housing and for a more efficient construction industry. The analyses showed that the key aspects that determine the sustainability of housing from the perspective of users are the standard of construction workmanship and construction time, which depend on the choice of construction system, cost-efficiency of use, and material composition and floor plan design. These aspects also interacted with other technical and design aspects, which also played an important role in the perception of housing sustainability.

Presented here are the results of assessing the effect of elevated temperature on the strength characteristics of reinforced concrete structures during operation. Described here are the features of the technical inspection of structures subjected to temperature effects (after a fire). The strength class of reinforced concrete structures was determined before temperature exposure (in places that were not exposed to fire) and after in the course of the study. Presented are the results of measuring the strength of concrete by the direct method of pulling off with spalling, as well as the results of verification calculations of reinforced concrete structures exposed to temperature effects. When performing verification calculations, the percentage of reduction in the bearing capacity of structures was established. Based on the results of the study, the percentage ratio of the decrease in the strength of prefabricated reinforced concrete structures after a fire during the operation of the facility was established.
