Caduet enhances connexin 43 phosphorylation in left ventricular and thoracic aorta of SH model rats

Abstract: ; subsequently, body weight, heart rate (HR), left ventricular mass index (LVMI), blood pressure (BP), plasma lipid levels and morphological changes of myocardial tissue in each group were analyzed. The expression of total (T)-Cx43 and phosphorylated (P)-Cx43 protein in the left ventricular and thoracic aortic tissues was determined using western blotting and immunofluorescence double labeling. The results revealed that AM + AT significantly decreased LVMI and cardiomyocyte cross-sectional area compared with S… Show more

“…The levels of TG and TC in the SHR group notably increased compared to the WKY group. These results are consistent with the research findings that the TG and TC levels were higher in SHRs than in WKY rats [ 29 , 30 ]. In contrast, the TG and TC levels in the FE250 and FE500 groups notably decreased compared with those in the SHR group.…”

“…Prolonged elevation in blood pressure initiates a cascade of physiological changes, including vascular endothelial damage, abnormal proliferation, migration, invasion and phenotypic transformation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). These processes eventually cause endothelial dysfunction, blood vessel constriction and stiffness, ultimately, insufficient blood supply to crucial organs like the heart, kidney and brain (Fang et al, 2019;Dikalova et al, 2020;Huang et al, 2020). Consequently, hypertension becomes a significant risk factor for the development of cardio-and cerebro-vascular diseases.…”
