PurposeThis study explored the students' perception of their adoption and acceptance of virtual learning (VL), the factors affecting the adoption of educational technologies and the correlation between their intention, perceived behavioral control and care competence in caring for older adults.Design/methodology/approachA cross-sectional survey was conducted. Surveys were administered to evaluate the participants who were involved in VL on geriatric care during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. A total of 315 nursing students participated in the survey, and 287 valid questionnaires were collected (response rate: 91.11%).FindingsA total of 287 participants (mean age 21.09, SD 1.44 years; 242/287, 84.3% female) were included in the study. The variables of intention to use technologies were positively correlated with care competence (r = 0.59, p < 0.001). The results revealed that the major predictors were perceived ease-of-use (PEOU) (β = 0.28, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.16–0.40) and perceived usefulness (PU) (β = 0.22, CI 0.09–0.35) which were significantly positive predictors of competence in geriatric care.Research limitations/implicationsNursing students lack in clinical knowledge and situational experience in geriatric care; therefore, their perceptiveness, expressions and reflection on the process of providing care to hospitalized older patients should be increased. These results indicated that students improved in geriatric healthcare after/during the VL program during COVID-19 pandemic.Originality/valueIt is hoped that the present study would make an invaluable contribution to existing research on education in general and on the quality of care in geriatric nursing as limited studies have been published so far.

This study aimed to assess the prevalence of stress among healthcare professionals, and to study coping strategies adopted to deal with stress. This is an observational study of a cross-sectional type. A self-administered survey was used to determine the personal and professional characteristics. The Perceived Stress Scale to assess the level of perceived stress. The Ways of Coping Checklist to measure coping strategies. The Perceived Stress Scale shows that the study population is susceptible to stress. Problem-focused coping emerged as the most frequently used coping process for coping with stress. The results lead us to question the importance of coping strategies and to propose effective solutions, the use of new technology is recommended for coping with stress.

Professional hazards, particularly psychosocial risks that are likely to affect teachers' physical and mental health, are a particular concern in the education sector. It is in this context that this research work lies to evaluate the psychosocial risks encountered by secondary school mathematics teachers in Safi city (Morocco). Indeed, it is a cross-sectional descriptive study based on a questionnaire that compiled socio-demographic and professional data as well as the psychometric variables of the French version of the KARASEK questionnaire. The latter has three components, namely psychological demand (PD), decision latitude (DL), and social support (SS). The sample consisted of 218 teachers, ranging from 22 to 61 years old, and the participation rate was 72.66%. The sex ratio was 1.5, out of which 61% were males surpassing that of women, 39%. The prevalence of stress risk variables was 98%, 79%, and 4% for high PD, low DL, and low SS, respectively. While Isostrain prevalence was detected only in 2% of instances, job strain was present in 77% of them. It is trusty to mention that men are proven to be more exposed to the lack of social support, “Job-strain” and isostrain than women. Indeed, they experience stress at work, thus demonstrating that psychosocial risks are significant occupational exposure for teachers. These results promote the development of prevention means to improve working conditions and protect the teachers’ well-being.
