Purpose This study aims to assess the response of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to cleaner production and environmental sustainability, with a specific focus on identifying the leading countries and research networks driving these efforts. Design/methodology/approach A benchmarking academic journal was chosen, and the journal’s archive was comprehensively examined. To construct the data set, a conventional keyword search technique was applied in February 2023 to filter for ASEAN affiliations. The study used hybrid bibliometric analyses and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) to analyze the collected data and address the research purpose. Findings The data analysis revealed a rising research trend, particularly after 2014. Malaysia had the most publications, followed by Thailand and Singapore, and their publications had the most cumulative citations among ASEAN countries. Research collaborations between Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore were frequent, but participation from other countries was low. The research topics on which ASEAN members focused were also identified, but it became apparent that there was little coordination. A scant few collaborations involving more than two countries were observed; thus, the MCDA analysis concluded that research leadership was absent in ASEAN countries. Originality/value This study contributes insights to the existing literature and offers a valuable overview of the research direction and collaboration status of cleaner production and environmental sustainability in the ASEAN region, thus benefiting policymakers. Additionally, this study introduces a novel approach combining bibliometrics analysis with MCDA to assess research collaboration, thus providing a novel methodology for future research policy evaluations.

Halal food is food whose halal status is regulated by sharia institutions such as LPPOM MUI which is set by the government. The halal status of food must be traced from the process of raw materials, processing, packaging, transportation, and distribution to the final consumer. It is difficult to trace the certainty of halal food, especially beef in Medan City because the supply chain information from upstream to downstream is not transparent. To increase the transparency of beef status and increase consumer confidence, especially Muslim consumers, a distributed and transparent system is needed, where many parties can access the status of food at any time. So Blockchain technology is used to help track the halal status of beef along the supply chain. The purpose of this study is to design a system to obtain information certainty that beef distributed along the supply chain is halal and safe for consumption by utilizing Blockchain technology and to increase public safety and trust in the LPPOM MUI halal certification system. Based on the discussion and research analysis, it is known that the information in the halal beef supply chain in Medan City uses blockchain technology designed with a data security system using smart contracts, where information that has been stored cannot be changed by any party. so that there is a guarantee of information security in the beef supply chain in the city of Medan. This research is expected to support transparency, security, and certainty of information about halal beef in Medan City.

This study aimed to investigate the influence of green supply chain management practices on the environmental performance of manufacturing firms, with a specific focus on understanding how institutional pressure moderated this relationship. The research design encompassed a holistic approach, incorporating an in-depth examination of the current literature and data collection via a well-structured questionnaire. Random sampling was utilized to gather data from manufacturing companies in Pakistan, and the data analysis employed PLS-SEM. The findings revealed a significant relationship between GSCM practices and the environmental performance of manufacturing firms. Moreover, the study identified that institutional pressure played a moderating role, influencing the strength of this relationship. Notably, the impact of GSCM practices on environmental performance varied under different levels of institutional pressure. This research underscored the importance of considering institutional pressure in understanding the link between GSCM practices and environmental performance. The implications extended to academics and practitioners, providing insights into the nuanced dynamics of sustainable practices in manufacturing settings. Practical implications involved tailoring GSCM strategies based on varying degrees of institutional pressure for optimal environmental outcomes. The original contribution of this study lies in its comprehensive exploration of the interplay between GSCM practices, institutional pressure, and environmental performance. By incorporating institutional pressure as a moderator, the research provided a nuanced understanding of how external influences shaped the effectiveness of GSCM in fostering ecological sustainability within manufacturing firms.
