The fashion industry, during production and post-consumption, has major adverse environmental impacts. With the recent circular economy (CE) practices initiative, discarded fashion materials are reused to recover value from the waste. However, the CE practices initiative have not been well-received by society. The role of CE practices is very crucial in fashion industry as it helps in lowering the environmental burden caused by the discarded fashion materials, which in turn help to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDG). This study aims to collect and evaluate the challenges restricting the preference for CE practices initiative in Indian fashion industry. Based on literature review and inputs from the fashion industry experts, the study identified twenty-one challenges, in seven categories (Industrial management, Labour, Material, Regulations, Knowledge, Collaboration, and Infrastructure). An integrated multi-criteria decisionmaking (MCDM) approach comprising fuzzy Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory Model (DEMATEL), Analytical Network Process (ANP), and Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is used to evaluate the challenges. The outcome of the study identifies costly raw materials, absence of certifications, problem in collection and separation, weak technical know-how, and absence of shared vision as the top five challenges to CE practices in Indian fashion industry. Further, the revelation of the causal interrelationship among the challenges helps the industrial management in taking appropriate steps to avert the challenges.INDEX TERMS Circular economy (CE), fashion industry, fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory model (FDEMATEL), India.

The study analyzes the stages and prospects of development the digital fashion industry, taking into account the growing raw material and environmental problems. In the course of analysis change the model of its functioning from linear to cyclic, multidisciplinary problems have been identified that it is advisable to solve based on an ecosystem common digital platform. To identify the essence, stages and role of digitalization in the fashion industry transformation, a content analysis of the digital design tools evolution was carried out, the results of which were compared with a historiographical analysis of fashion industry transformation of a post-industrial society. As a result, it was found that the readiness of the fashion industry for transformation depends from the stage of digitalization, from the innovative ecological fashion design development and from the presence of motivated coherence actions among all fashion market subjects, as well as from the formation for them a new style of using clothes. In the course of the study, the structure of digital fashion industry innovative potential was determined as a part of the factors of art-aesthetic, technological, sociocultural, economic, environmental and administrative nature. An approach to managing of the digital fashion industry transformation processes was proposed, based on the balance regulation between processes by redistributing the system total resources to eliminate the "bottleneck" and support the "weak element". Based on the formulated approach, a model of the strategy was proposed for managing the transformation of the fashion industry. The model is based on the decomposition of the main influence factors into relatively independent components, the regrouping of components based on the same nature with the regulation of the balance between these groups by redistributing common resources. As environmental management is becoming increasingly complex, adequate assessment techniques must be utilized to forecast environmental impact trends. The current study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the evaluation system in Greece regarding environmental impact assessment (EIA) concerning projects. Data were extracted from literature and a questionnaire, which was distributed electronically on a Pan-Hellenic scale. Results indicated that the EIA system in Greece has solid foundations with a weak point regarding implementation. Strengths, weaknesses, and threats of EIA institution were analyzed through SWOT-AHP (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats and Analytical Hierarchy Process) analysis. A dominant criterion in the analysis due to the dynamic of the deep economic recession was found to be the economic crisis.
