Show more

“…They conclude that an increase in stiffness of the beams so produced was observed, but no increase in bending strength was observed. Enders-Comberg’s work [ 31 ], which investigated similar beams (GL + Beech LVL), showed an approximately 50% increase in strength, and a troublesome-to-estimate increase in stiffness (between 10% and 70%). Thus, already, based on these two works, it can be seen that the quality of the produced beams depends, not only on the quality in the discussed cases LVL, but also on the quality of the timber used.…”

“…That increases the tensile, compressive, and bending strength of the chords significantly (e.g. Enders-Comberg et al 2015). The red dashed line in Figure 3 marks a plug-in system.…”

“…To use its full potential, efficient connections are necessary for trusses. For example, dowel-type connections with beech LVL enable high loadbearing capacities and ductile load slip (Kobel et al 2014, Enders-Comberg et al 2015, Kobel et al 2016. In combination with axially glued-in rods or axially inserted screws, a relatively stiff load transfer between truss members is assured Blass 2017, Meyer and.…”
