In eighteenth-and early nineteenth-century rural Flanders the number of unmarried women rose, as they did in the rest of Western Europe. While previous studies of unmarried women mostly concentrated on urban dwellers, this contribution focuses on the coping strategies of unmarried women in two rural areas of the Franc of Bruges characterized by two different 'social agro-systems'. This concept aims to link the social, economic and demographic patterns with the geological characteristics and economic activities of a specific region. Based on two censuses, this article discusses the occupations of unmarried women, their household situations and their migration behaviour. The numbers show different outcomes for the two agro-systems, which validates the idea that the coping strategies of unmarried women were influenced by the region they were living in.

This article examines the economic consequences of widowhood and the possibility of maintaining female-managed farms in a predominantly male world. A unique dataset is exploited to investigate the productivity of female-headed households in preindustrial Sweden. The main source material is tithe payment rolls maintained by parish priests, which reflect fluctuations and long-term trends in the annual economic output of more than 2,000 individual farms. No evidence was found that farm management conducted by widows was dissolved by male relatives or neighbours. Farm management by widows was in many cases a temporary arrangement, especially on manorial land, where landlords did not accept female farmers. But among freeholders and crown tenants, widows often refrained from remarriage and continued as farm heads. As for production, farms managed by widows performed slightly better than farms managed by men during the first few years after a takeover. This result levelled out over time and farms managed by long-term widows show production results almost equal to farms run by men.

Broken family leads to children being raised by single parents, stepparents or others not related to the biological parents. The study used a univariate likert scale among senior high school students in Jagobiao National High School. There are questions to gather the data. Firstly, students with broken family reported that they perform differently compared to the students with complete family. They do not have the confidence to stand out in class and even socializing the people around them. The findings of the study is statistically not significant between performance task and socialization of the students with broken family because the Cross tabulation presented that performance task does not affect the students socialization. Majority of the students perform well with a complete family rather than the broken ones. A number of students have fair confidence to socialize with other people. Other students with incomplete family poorly perform their task and their socialization skills rated poor as well. Hence, most of the students with incomplete family satisfactory perform their task and their socialization skill rated as satisfactory also. The study accentuates that the two variables performance task and socialization of the students with broken family does not have a significant correlation.
