In this article we discuss how to develop methodological tools to guide social innovation in the arts and health movement. We approach this question by making research within Artful Dementia Research Lab as transparent as possible by 1) describing study designs 2) presenting arts-based datasets, and 3) giving insight into what we define as aesthetic analysis. We outline four premisses of situated art intervention research and what it can add to practice-led research. We close with an invitation to the reader to further discuss how to make arts-based research methods more visible and bringing them to the table of established research standards.

Actualmente existen prácticas artísticas educativas donde cohabitan nexos de unión con el arte contemporáneo y se destinan a proyectos sociales, con nociones propias del posmodernismo de reapropiación o intervención de los espacios periféricos, urbanos o naturales. Se manifiesta una correspondencia entre diversas concepciones como: cultura, arte y medio ambiente mediante experiencias artísticas interdisciplinares con el fin de estudiar cómo los artistas, comisarios, investigadores, fotoperiodistas, publicistas y arquitectos, exponen temas heterogéneos para solucionar conflictos a nivel local y proyectarlo como una idea global con una mirada desde la comunidad. Los aspectos a desarrollar más significativos son problemáticas sociales, de identidad cultural, calentamiento global, sequía, catástrofes naturales que ocasionan la destrucción del hábitat y la degradación del entorno. Es esencial crear prácticas artísticas innovadoras generadoras de nuevas narrativas alternativas para el fomento del bienestar social. Análisis de cómo desde la cultura visual, arte contemporáneo y educación artística se interrelacionan ecología, sociología, antropología y justicia para aplicarlo al consumo racional de recursos.

In der Debatte um die Demokratisierung von Bildungseinrichtungen änderte sich der Blick auf Schulgebäude und ihre Nutzung seit den 1960er Jahren grundlegend und es rückte eine weitere Funktion in den Vordergrund: die Rolle von Schularchitektur als Imageträger. Eva Zepp rekonstruiert den Diskurs um ein höheres Maß an Mitbestimmung bei der Planung von Schulbauten und deren mediale Repräsentationen. Anhand von Dokumenten aus Forschungsarchiven, Berichten und Bildstrecken in Architekturzeitschriften sowie zwei prominent diskutierten Schulbauten analysiert sie die Rollen und Praktiken von Nutzer*innen und zeigt: Wo verschiedene Interessen aufeinandertreffen, braucht es eine partizipative Planungspraxis, die Raum für Eigensinn und Dissens öffnet.
