Brevundimonas vancanneytii sp. nov., isolated from blood of a patient with endocarditis

Abstract: A Gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacterial strain, designated LMG 2337 T , was isolated from the blood of a patient with endocarditis and characterized. The strain was affiliated with the alphaproteobacterial genus Brevundimonas, with Brevundimonas diminuta LMG 2089 T (98.3 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and Brevundimonas terrae KSL-145 T (97.5 %) as its closest relatives. This affiliation was supported by chemotaxonomic data: the G+C content was 66.3 mol %, the major polar lipids were phos… Show more

“…By contrast, Acinetobacter relative abundance was below 1% in fish fed the FM and TB0.1 diets, while Brevundimonas was the predominant genera. Brevundimonas strains are usually been isolated from soil (Yoon, Kang, Oh, Lee, & Oh, 2006), sand (Yoon et al, 2006) and sub-seafloor sediment (Tsubouchi et al, 2014), but rarely from infections (Estrela & Abraham, 2010). These changes in predominant or 'core' microbiota induced by tributyrin supplementation may provide evidence for the improvement of intestine health.…”

“…Subsequently, several Caulobacter species and subspecies were transferred to the genus Brevundimonas as Brevundimonas alba , B. aurantiaca , B. bacteroides , B. intermedia , B. subvibrioides and B. variabilis (Abraham et al , 1999). Additionally, over a dozen Brevundimonas species, B. nasdae (Li et al , 2004), B. mediterranea (Fritz et al , 2005), B. kwangchunensis (Yoon et al , 2006a), B. terrae (Yoon et al , 2006b), B. aveniformis (Ryu et al , 2007), B. lenta (Yoon et al , 2007), B. naejangsanensis , B. bullata (Kang et al , 2009), B. basaltis (Choi et al , 2010), B. halotolerans , B. poindexterae , B. staleyi (Abraham et al , 2010), B. vancanneytii (Estrela & Abraham, 2010) and B. viscosa (Wang et al , 2012), have been described or reclassified. In this study, we report on a novel Brevundimonas -like dimorphic prosthecate bacterial strain, TAR-001 T , which was isolated from a deep-subsea floor sediment sample at a depth of 11 m below the sea floor (mbsf) off the Shimokita Peninsula of Japan in the north-western Pacific Ocean (Site C9001: 1180 m water depth).…”
