“…In this new development the total time of postoperative radiotherapy (RT) may be considerably reduced to one-half and perhaps to one-third. This objective implies a new fractionation policy, with far less fractions being administered and consequently an increase of radiotherapy dosage for each application [4][5][6].…”

“…Late effects, most commonly induration, were classified as grade 1 in 19 cases, grade 2 in 21 cases and grade 3 in 6 patients at a median of 41 months. In another French series, 50 patients were given 5 once-weekly fractions of 6.5 Gy to the whole breast as adjuvant therapy after breast conservation surgery, without a tumour bed boost dose [12]. Grade 1 or 2 induration was reported in 33% of the patients at a median follow up of 93 months (range 9-140), and no grade 3 or 4 effects were reported.…”

“…Study Institute Curie compared a group of patients treated by the above mentioned scheme with the group treated by standard fractionation. Although the results showed a similar local control, overall survival and diseasefree survival, given that there were great diff erences between the groups (the number of participants, age of the participants ...) and that they haven't thoroughly studied the toxicity, are subject to criticism (31). Currently there is an ongoing international randomized Phase II study SKA-GEN that examines the role of hypofractionated Protocol in the radiation of the lymphatic drainage in cases of early breast cancer.…”
