Objective: DATASUS is the Brazilian Public Unified Health System (SUS) department responsible for providing health data that are used as a primary source of data in several studies on surgery and surgical specialties although its main limitations have not been previously reviewed. The objective of this work is to synthesize information from studies on surgery that used DATASUS systems as a data source and to identify the main gaps in this platform. Methods: a scoping review was conducted according to the PRISMA-ScR method to identify papers on surgery, and other surgical specialties, that used the DATASUS platform as a primary data source. No restrictions were imposed regarding the type of study or year of publication. Grounded Theory was used to analyze the content of the articles. Results: 248 works were initially analyzed and 47 were included in the final analysis of this study. The original articles included were published between 2009 and 2022 and the majority (12.76%, n=6) were published in the Journal of the Brazilian College of Surgeons. Retrospective studies (40.43%, n=19) were the most common type of study found. Content analysis of the articles identified four predominant domains in the scientific literature about the limitations of using DATASUS in surgical research: lack of data, reliability, precision and data integration. Conclusion: the information systems available in DATASUS are the largest source of information about the SUS, but the scientific literature on the quality of data available in these systems remains scarce and studies aimed at measuring this metric are necessary.

Objetivo: Analisar o perfil das mulheres que realizaram mamografia no Brasil no período de 2013 a 2021. Metodologia: O universo da pesquisa foi a base de dados do Sistema de Informações de Câncer (SISCAN), referente aos registros das pacientes submetidas à mamografia de rastreio no Brasil, no período compreendido entre 2013 e 2021. Outrossim, foi realizada a análise dos dados colhidos utilizando o software Excel (Microsoft Office® 2019). Resultados: No período investigado, foram registradas 19.188.002 mamografias, sendo o maior número, 3.063.618, realizado em 2019. Foi observado um padrão crescente de mamografias em todas as regiões. Ressaltam-se as regiões Norte e Centro Oeste, onde houve um número discordante em relação à faixa etária predominante e a preconizada pelo Ministério da Saúde. Em comparação com todos os anos analisados, observou-se que no ano de 2020 houve uma diminuição no número de exames realizados, presumivelmente relacionado à pandemia COVID-19. Conclusão: Os resultados do presente estudo revelaram, de forma geral, que a faixa etária compreendida nas mulheres que realizam mamografia de rastreio é de 40 a 59 anos, e que o intervalo entre os exames é predominantemente de 01 ano. Ressalta-se a importância da coleta adequada e completa dos dados cadastrais das pacientes, em razão de um melhor traçado epidemiológico e social das mulheres que se submetem à mamografia de rastreio.

Introduction: Breast cancer may affect different profiles of women worldwide. In addition, chemotherapy to treat breast neoplasms directly affects health-related quality of life. Objective: To describe the clinical-epidemiological profile and to compare the general and specific health-related quality of life of women with breast cancer during chemotherapy. Method: In an observational and prospective study, 140 women with breast cancer in northeastern Brazil were evaluated in the intermediate cycle and at the end of chemotherapy. Quality of life was assessed using a general instrument (EORTC-QLQ-C30) and a specific module (EORTC-QLQ-BR23). Data were compared with a paired non-parametric test, with a significance level of 5%. Results: Regarding the clinical-epidemiological profile, the median age was 50 years, 82.9% were black or mixed-race, and 95% lived in Sergipe, Brazil. In addition, 50.7% had no occupation, the median family income was one minimum wage, as well as the median of education was eight years of study and only 40.7% have completed high school. Considering the data from the C30 and BR23 questionnaires, it was observed that most items and scales worsened at the end of chemotherapy when compared to the intermediate cycle. Among the items and scales with significant differences, most had moderate or high effect sizes. Conclusion: It is possible to conclude that the clinical-epidemiological profile was unfavorable and chemotherapy reduced several aspects of the health-related quality of life of women with breast cancer.
