Brazilian Environmental-Impact Assessment System: A Critical Analysis

Abstract: Until recently, Brazil was recognized for having quite advanced environmental legislation. The Brazilian environmental licensing process was legally established in 1986. It provides for 3-phase licensing: pre-license, installation license and operating license.
