Both antireflection and superhydrophobicity structures achieved by direct laser interference nanomanufacturing

Abstract: Inspired by nature, a number of techniques have been developed to fabricate the bionic structures of lotus leaves and moth eyes in order to realize the extraordinary functions of self-cleaning and antireflection. Compared with the existing technologies, we present a straightforward method to fabricate well-defined micro and nano artificial bio-structures in this work. The proposed method of direct laser interference nanomanufacturing (DLIN) takes a significant advantage of high efficiency as only a single tech… Show more

“…By contrast, underwater oil droplets can maintain a spherical shape and easily roll off on the rough underwater superoleophobic metal surface, that is, the oil droplets are very difficult to stay on such metal surface (Figure f). Meanwhile, because of the dual effect of the laser‐induced microcavities and nanoparticles, most incident light beams will be trapped by these microstructures, leading to a significant decrease in reflectance …”

“…In the conventional configurations of the two-, three-and four-beam interference, the equations of the electric field vector and intensity distribution are described in the reference [2][3][4][5]. extended the number of interfering beams to six and employed the six-beam interference system to fabricate arrays of dual-periodic structures on silicon surfaces [6].…”

“…Zhang et al [10] fabricated periodic antireflection structures with the average reflectance of 3.5% on silicon using four-beam laser interference lithography. Wang et al [11] proposed both antireflection and superhydrophobicity structures fabricated by direct laser interference nanomanufacturing and the contact angle and reflectance were 156.3 • and 5.9-15.4%. Li et al [12] presented a method for the fabrication of highly-ordered superhydrophobic micro-nano dual structures on silicon by direct laser interference lithography.…”
