Blue lipophorin from Podisus maculiventris

Abstract: Key words: biliverdin, chromoprotein, lipoprotein INTRODUCTIONThe hemolymph of several insect species displays a distinct blue coloration. Detailed chemical studies have shown that this color is due to a tetrapyrrol pigment, biliverdin IX [l], bound noncavalently to proteins.
