Blood serum components and serum protein test of Hybro-PG broilers of different ages

Abstract: Blood serum samples of HYBRO PG broilers were analyzed, with 30 samples collected from 21-day-old broilers (G1), 30 from 35-day-old birds (G2), and 30 from 42-day-old birds (G3), with the aim of establishing normal values of some blood serum parameters. The activities of the enzymes gamma-glutamyl-transferase (GGT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatine kinase (CK), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), serum levels of total calcium, calcium ion, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magne… Show more

“…The quadratic effect was also observed in the animals subjected to stress but with an estimated increase from 21 to 25 days and decreasing until slaughter (Figure 1). This behavior is different from that reported by González et al (2001), who observed an increase of cholesterol at 47 days compared to 21 and 32 days, and from that reported by Silva et al (2007), who observed higher values of cholesterol up to 21 days, with a decrease at 35 days and an increase at 42 days.…”

“…Aspartate aminotransferase activity presented a cubic response, with an estimated increase from 21 to 24 days of age and a reduction up to 36 days, increasing again up to 42 days regardless of the environment (Figure 3). These results differ from those of Silva et al (2007), who observed a progressive increase in AST with age in broiler chickens, and those of Borsa et al (2006), who observed no effect of age on the variation of this enzyme.…”

“…Blood plasma cholesterol level in cocks of laying lines ranges from 2.33 to 2.75 mmol/l, glucose in laying hens lines is between the values of 4.87 to 15.15 mmol/l (Máchal, 1999). Silva et al (2007) revealed content of creatinine in blood plasma in ranges from 46 to 59 µmol/l. Concentrations of plasma calcium in broiler chicken was from 2.52 to 3.80 mmol/l, phosphorus from 2.78 to 5.27 mmol/l, and plasma magnesium from 0.83 to 0.84 mmol/l (Večerek et al, 2002).…”
