Blocks of symmetric groups, semicuspidal KLR algebras and zigzag Schur-Weyl duality

Abstract: We prove Turner's conjecture, which describes the blocks of the Hecke algebras of the symmetric groups up to derived equivalence as certain explicit Turner double algebras. Turner doubles are Schur-algebra-like 'local' objects, which replace wreath products of Brauer tree algebras in the context of the Broué abelian defect group conjecture for blocks of symmetric groups with non-abelian defect groups. The main tools used in the proof are generalized Schur algebras corresponding to wreath products of zigzag alg… Show more

“…In particular, B δ ∼ = [z] ⊗ Z. Theorem A appears in the body of the paper as Theorem 6.16 and Corollary 6.17. We note that Theorem A has been used in a crucial way in the recent proof of Turners conjecture on RoCK blocks of symmetric groups [8], [7].…”

“…In general, simple imaginary semicuspidal R nδ -modules are not isomorphic to skew Specht modules, but do appear to arise as heads (or socles) of imaginary semicuspidal skew Specht modules. For a balanced convex preorder, evidence for this assertion appears in [7], which relates some semicuspidal R nδ -modules to RoCK blocks of Hecke algebras via Morita equivalence. For arbitrary convex preorders, we expect a similar connection to hold with blocks which are Scopes equivalent to RoCK blocks.…”

“…In addition to conjecturing the statement of Theorem 1.1, Turner [33] has constructed two remarkable algebras that he conjectured to be Morita equivalent respectively to the whole RoCK block H ρ,d and to a RoCK block of a ξ-Schur algebra (see [33,Conjectures 165 and 178] respectively). After the present paper was submitted, the first of these conjectures was proved in [13] using results contained here.…”
