Üniversite öğrencilerinin kan bağışı tutumları ile vicdan algılarının spor ve farklı değişkenlere göre incelenmesinin amaçlandığı bu çalışma da genel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama araçları olarak araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ile birlikte “Kan Bağışı Tutum Ölçeği” ve “Vicdan Algısı Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Veriler SPSS 26.0 Windows paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Bağımsız değişkenin kategori sayısına bağlı olarak ikili gruplarda bağımsız örneklem t-Testi, çoklu gruplarda ise Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA) ile Posthoc testlerinden Lsd testi kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçları ,05 anlamlılık düzeyine göre yorumlanmıştır. Araştırmada üniversite öğrencilerinin yaşlarının, aile gelir düzeylerinin, öğrenim gördükleri bölümlerinin, sınıf düzeylerinin, spor yapma durumlarının ve haftalık spor yapma sürelerinin Kan bağışı tutumları üzerinde etkili bir değişken olduğu; cinsiyetin, yapmış oldukları spor türünün ve spor yaşlarının etkili değişkenler olmadığı; vicdan algı durumlarını yaşlarının, öğrenim gördükleri bölümlerinin, sınıf düzeylerinin, spor yapma durumlarının, haftalık spor yapma sürelerinin ve spor yaşlarının etkilediği; cinsiyetin, aile gelir düzeylerinin ve yapmış oldukları spor türünün etkilemediği görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak sporun hem kan bağışı tutum durumuna hem de vicdan algı durumuna etken bir değişken olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Background: Blood donation is the voluntary withdrawal of blood from an individual, after undergoing some medical screening in order to ensure the safety of both the donor and the recipient. Blood donation is crucial and indispensable in the medical process of saving lives. Globally, 112.5 million blood donations were made in 180 countries in 2013. Uganda needs at least 340,000 units of safe blood annually, but usually, only 200,000 units are collected yearly. Although massive blood donation campaigns are carried out to obtain blood, there is still more demand for blood within hospitals. Student populations are considered healthy, active, and receptive, thus, regarded as potential blood donors. This study sought to explore the barriers to blood donation among MUST students. Methodology: A qualitative descriptive design was used in this study. A purposive sampling method was used to select respondents from different faculties at MUST. Four FGDs were employed in the study and data were collected using a focus group discussion guide. Inductive content analysis was used to analyze data. Results: The study revealed different barriers to blood donation among students. Three broad themes were generated from the analysis; personal barriers related to blood donation, socio-cultural variations affecting blood donation, and the barriers concerning the blood donation process. Conclusion and recommendations: Although participants reported willingness to donate blood, it was found to be affected by barriers ranging from individuals related to the system/process in which blood is collected. Addressing these barriers may improve blood donation by MUST students.

University students constitute an important cohort for the supplement of voluntary blood donation considering their age and dynamism. With this study, it is aimed to find out Turkish university students' positive and negative opinions towards blood donation in addition to interpreting their motivators and barriers to this issue. For this reason, a qualitative study was conducted with a total of 141 students studying in one of the governmental universities in the west part of Turkey. Data were collected with the help of a semi-structured interview form which involved 10 questions and analyzed by means of content analysis. As a result, it was determined that university students possessed insufficient knowledge and misconceptions related to blood donation. Also, more than half of the students were found to not donate blood before. Being sensible was the most frequent reason stated by the students for donating blood. On the other hand, anemia was the main reason of not donating blood for females and fear was the main reason for males. In the light of the findings, it is thought that focusing on factors such as Red Crescent blood collection vehicle, blood collection stands at the university campuses and positive effects on health might play important role to turn university students into voluntary regular donors.
