Biotribological Characteristic of Peanut Harvesting Impact-Friction Contact under Different Conditions

Abstract: Although cutting flow peanut-picking is the main peanut harvesting method, it has the problems of a large harvest loss and a high damage rate of peanut shells. The analysis of impact-friction contact characteristics during peanut fruit picking is crucial to illustrate peanut fruit picking damage. A typical peanut variety, “Dabaisha”, was considered in this study. The characteristics of peanut-picking impact-friction were studied using a peanut-picking impact-friction test bench under different conditions. An o… Show more

“…Other studies have proposed several methods to measure the friction coefficient, including the parallel wall, shear box, and inclined plane methods (Sun et al 2018). Moreover, the coefficient of friction used in many harvesting equipment design studies has typically been measured using the slant method; the coefficient of friction measured using this method is simply the coefficient of sliding or rolling friction (Zhang et al 2022).…”

“…Peanut whole-feed harvesting, which comprises a series of operations such as pick-up, picking, cleaning, and collecting at the same time, has the advantages of low operating cost and high efficiency, and is the most popular mechanized peanut harvesting mode all over the world [ 1 ]. With the continuous innovation and progress of the mechanized peanut harvesting technology, the peanut whole-feed harvester has been widely used in the main production areas of China [ 2 , 3 ]. However, a large amount of dust is emitted from the harvester under the action of the beating, kneading, and cleaning of the whole-feed peanut plants and the entrained soil [ 4 ].…”

“…The surface forces between the peanut pods and the picking blade are not considered. Therefore, this paper uses the JKR theoretical model in contact mechanics to analyze the critical impact force and critical speed of impact between the picking roller and the peanut pods [11][12][13].…”
