“…WBF -West Black Sea Fault. age. In the lower part of the Trakya Formation, there are tongues of in situ shallow-marine upper Visean bioclastic limestones (Kaya & Mamet, 1971). The limestones pass up into richly fossiliferous shales and siltstones of latest Early Devonian (late Emsian) age, which are in turn overlain by thinly to irregularly banded marly nodular limestones, marls and shales of latest Early Devonian (Late Emsian) to earliest Carboniferous (Tournaisian) age, deposited in deep water (Çapkınoglu, 2000, 2005Göncüoglu, Boncheva & Göncüoglu, 2004).…”

“…They grade into a more than 2000 m-thick succession of flyschoid sediments of the Trakya Formation, originally named as the "Thrazische Serie" by Penck (1919). Except for a few Lower Carboniferous foraminifers found in shally lenses (Kaya & Mamet 1971) in the lower part of the formation, these mass-flow deposits are barren. The only age data had been obtained from the randomly distributed carbonate lenses named as the Cebeciköy Limestone Member (Yalçýnlar 1951(Yalçýnlar , 1954.…”
